Article: Stripes for Autumn

Stripes for Autumn

Stripes for Autumn

It would appear that stripes are the order for Autumn. A big part of our service at Ida's House is to try to bring the very best patterns to you, and to try to interpret the subtleties of the design and how it will fit you.

A huge amount of work goes into creating a well written and tech-edited pattern, which is why we trust patterns from PetiteKnit. Sometimes designs can look almost the same which can be confusing. To illustrate these differences in construction and help you choose, I have chosen three striped sweaters from PetiteKnit.

olga sweater

Olga Sweater:
Slouchy, wide across the shoulders. The Olga Sweater has a dropped shoulder which means that the stripes stop at the shoulder and run in a different direction to the rest of the garment. The front and back are worked flat (backwards and forwards then joined under the arm. The sleeves are picked up, as is the neck which is knitted in a solid colour and then folded over. The Olga Sweater is knitted in Peer Gynt by Sandnes Garn.

Olga Blouse

Olga Blouse: NEW
A re working of the Olga Sweater, The Olga Blouse has the same construction but has a daintier fit, worn with less positive ease for a more tailored fit. The Olga Blouse is knitted in our beloved Cardiff Cashmere which gives it a light luxurious fabric, gorgeous.

Frankie Sweater NEW
The Frankie is knitted top down with raglan sleeve increases. This means that the stripes run down the sweater in increasing circles from the neck. The sleeves are knitted on saved stitches not picked up from a finished edge. This Frankie Sweater is also knitted in Peer Gynt in new shades Fig and September Sky which will be in stock really soon!
